What we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it. In plain English.

Section 01

Who We Are and What This Covers

Code Camo is a veteran-owned web design business operating from Arizona. We build and maintain websites for veteran-owned and small businesses across the United States.

This policy explains what we collect when you visit codecamo.com, fill out one of our forms, or become a Code Camo client, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers this website and the services we provide directly. It does not cover the websites we build for our clients, which are governed by those businesses' own policies.

Section 02

What We Collect

Information you give us

When you request a free draft, send us a message, or ask for an update to your site, we collect what you type into the form. Depending on the form, that can include:

  • Your name, email address, and phone number.
  • Your business name and what your business does.
  • A short description of your military service, which is how we confirm you qualify for a veteran build.
  • A photo you choose to upload.
  • Anything else you write in a message or update request, including text, images, and files you want us to put on your site.

Information we collect automatically

Our website platform records basic, aggregated visit statistics: which pages were viewed, how long the visit lasted, which site or search referred you, the type of device and browser used, and an approximate location worked out from the network address. We use these statistics to see which pages are doing their job. We do not run advertising trackers on this website.

Billing information

If you sign up for a plan, your card details go straight to our payment processor. They are never stored on our systems and we never see the full card number. We keep a record of what you were billed and when.

Section 03

Cookies

Our website platform sets a small number of cookies so the site works properly and so the visit statistics described above can be counted. These are first-party cookies used to run and measure the site, not to build an advertising profile of you.

Every major browser lets you see, block, and delete cookies in its settings. Blocking them will not stop you from reading this website, though a form may not behave the way it should.

Section 04

How We Use Your Information

We use what we collect to do the work you asked us to do and to run the business behind it. Specifically:

  • To build, deliver, and revise your free draft.
  • To confirm that you qualify for a veteran build.
  • To call or email you about your draft, your site, or an update you requested.
  • To host, maintain, secure, and update your website once you are a client.
  • To bill you and keep accurate financial records.
  • To answer questions you send us.
  • To understand which pages of our own site are working and improve them.
  • To meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

If you give us permission, we may show your finished site as an example of our work on the examples pages of this website. We ask before we do that, and we take it down if you ask us to.

Section 06

Who We Share It With

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only in these situations:

  • Service providers. The companies that keep the business running: our website platform and host, our payment processor, our domain registrar, and the email and customer management tools we use to talk to you and schedule work. Each of them gets only what it needs to do its job, and each is bound to handle it properly.
  • When the law requires it. If we receive a valid legal demand, or if we need to establish or defend a legal claim, protect someone from harm, or stop fraud or abuse.
  • If the business changes hands. If Code Camo is sold, merged, or transferred, client records would move with it. We would tell you before that happened.
Section 07

Data on the Sites We Build

When you are a Code Camo client, people who visit your website may submit forms, sign up for your list, or place orders. That information belongs to you. It lands in your own dashboard, and we handle it on your behalf and under your instructions only.

We access it when we need to fix a problem, make a change you asked for, or keep the site secure. We do not use your customers' information for our own purposes, and we do not sell it. You are responsible for telling your own visitors how you use their information, which is what the privacy policy on your site is for.

Section 08

How Long We Keep It

We keep what you send us for as long as we are working together, and for a reasonable period after that so we can answer questions, honor warranties, and keep the tax and accounting records the law requires.

If you contacted us and never became a client, we keep the inquiry for up to two years in case you come back, then remove it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Section 09

How We Protect It

Our website and every site we build are served over an encrypted connection. Access to client accounts and records is limited to the people who need it, and protected by strong passwords and additional verification. Card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and never touch our systems.

No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you and tell you what we are doing about it.

Section 10

Your Choices and Your Rights

Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you and where it came from.
  • Give you a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it, unless we are required to keep it for tax, accounting, or legal reasons.
  • Stop sending you marketing email.

Send the request to robert@CodeCamo.com and we will handle it within 45 days. We may need to confirm who you are first, which usually means replying from the email address we already have on file. Asking us to do any of this costs nothing and we will not treat you differently for asking.

If you are in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or a state with a similar law

Those laws give you the rights listed above plus the right to appeal if we turn a request down. To appeal, reply to our decision and say so, and a person will look at it again. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

Marketing email

Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Using it stops the marketing. We will still send you the messages we need to send about your account, your site, and your billing.

Section 11

Do Not Track Signals

Browsers can send a Do Not Track signal, but there is still no agreed standard for what a website should do when it receives one, so we do not respond to it. We do not track you across other websites in the first place.

Section 12

Children

This website is for business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to robert@CodeCamo.com and we will delete it.

Section 14

Changes to This Policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top of the page. If a change meaningfully affects how we handle your information, we will tell current clients by email rather than expecting you to notice.

Section 15

How to Reach Us

Questions about this policy, or about anything we hold on you, go to a person, not a ticket queue:
